Celebration Jewelry

by Judy Larson
We may go all out with a red, white, and blue theme around Memorial Day and the 4th of July, or we may be more subtle. We can be more classic and use one color, or go bold and really mix it up. Using bits and pieces of multiple tutorials will encourage you to make unique-to-you pieces.
This bracelet was made years ago with a large coral herringbone wrapped large bead focal using an Eni Oken tutorial that is no longer available.

The wire is silver plated copper core craft wire and looks as good today as it did the day it was made.

Coral beads used as cabochons mixed with broken dishware pieces opens up a lot of design possibilities.

Highly occluded but still beautiful rubies deserve a stunning treatment with a silver and gold mix and the addition of a one-of-a-kind toggle closure used as icing on the cake.

Go bold.

Summer is short sleeve weather and it is the time we can stack bracelets.

Take apart old jewelry and make it into something new.

Three stretch bracelets were made using parts of 70-year-old bone necklace-and there are many pieces left for more projects.

I love wearing this one-and-done five-strand bracelet that never fails to get noticed.

Another Go Big or Go Home piece that screams FUN is this bracelet made using mixed metals with saved buttons and old pearl and mother of pearl beads.

How fun would this be in red, white, and blue!

White pearls are classic and timeless.

They can be worn dressed up or dressed down.

This set would look just as good worn with blue jeans and a T-shirt as it would worn with a little black dress.

With just a few small changes to Hammered Luxury, you could be wearing these updated classic pieces to your 4th of July family reunion!

Add traditional Southwest accents to your jewelry creations made with blue stones.

Dumortierite and Lapis Lazuli are often used in Southwest jewelry designs.

And the blue of crazy lace agate is more turquoise in color so fits in well with the Southwest theme.

Mixing colors does not have to be sensory overload.

These explosion of color multi-strand seed bead earrings are great fun to make and a party for the ears!

They may be a bit heavy for some people.

In that case, attaching the drop to a ball stud can help alleviate the problem.

For years, this has been one of the pieces I wear with a white button-down shirt with rolled up sleeves for the 4th of July evening festivities.

Most of the fetishes were collected during summer vacations, and some of them over the 4th holiday.

Do you have a signature piece you wear for the holiday?
