Instructions
Step 1
Begin with about 1.25" (3cm) of wire and make a simple loop in one end. Make a 90° bend in the wire about 9mm from the loop. Trim the wire to about 10mm from the bend.

Step 2
With the edge of a file lightly cut a fine channel into the wire about 1mm in from the end, making the channel go all the way around the wire. This channel stops the earring back from sliding off.

Step 3
I used a riveting hammer to create a texture on the front of the ear wire. This also work hardens the piece. These ear wires need to be work hardened by hammering or tumbling so they can withstand handling when putting them on and taking them off. Round the end of each ear wire so there are no sharp edges.
