More about Rhyolite

This beautifully patterned gemstone is sometimes called Army rock. Bet you can guess the reason! Rhyolite beads are a beautiful moss green, with splashes of white, cream, and even orange — you wouldn't guess from these colors that it's an igneous rock found in old volcanic cores.  Rhyolite has a composition that's similar to granite, but with a much smaller grain size.  It showcases spots that have an enchanting opalescent quality — largely because of the quartz it contains.

Rhyolite beads are an indispensible part of your bead repertoire. The solid, earthy colors in these stones allow them to be used in so many capacities. Here's just one idea: A long string necklace with larger Rhyolite beads interlaced with small silver beads. Rhyolite beads would go just as wes accent pieces in earrings or bangles. Pairing Rhyolite with Red Brass wire gives it an authentic, timeless feel.
